Stress and Burnout Therapy in Georgia
Your to-do list is not your worth.
(i finished everything. why can't i switch off?)
The workday ends and your brain stays on. You scan tomorrow's calendar while brushing your teeth. A free evening feels less like a break and more like a chance to catch up. You are getting things done, but you do not feel done with anything.
Stress and burnout are not a failure to buy the right planner. Sometimes the load really is too much. Sometimes anxiety makes every task feel urgent and every pause feel irresponsible. Often both are true. We can take a closer look instead of handing you another list to manage.
Therapy here is practical. We sort out what is actually within your control, practice different responses to the anxious pressure, and look at the habits that keep you available to everyone except yourself. You do not need to wait for everything to fall apart before you make room for this work.
What it looks like
The day is full. The off switch is missing.
- You answer a message during a break because waiting feels wrong.
- You take on a task because explaining why you cannot feels harder.
- You keep working past the point where your attention is useful.
- You feel restless on a day without a plan.
- You treat every request as if it belongs at the top of the list.
- You lie awake mentally rearranging tomorrow.
- You notice irritation at people you care about, then feel bad for noticing.
How we work
Less proving. More choosing.
(rest does not have to be earned twice.)
First we separate the actual demands from the ones anxiety is adding. We cannot pretend a crowded schedule is imaginary. But we can notice where perfectionism, fear of disappointing someone, or constant mental rehearsal adds a second shift after the first one ends.
CBT gives us a way to examine rules like 'if I stop, something will go wrong' or 'I should be able to handle this myself.' We test what those rules cost you and make room for choices based on the day you actually have, not the impossible day you think you should manage.
We also look at behavior. Can one email wait? Can you leave a task good enough? Can you take a break without using it to plan the next five tasks? Small experiments between sessions tell us more than another hour of promising yourself you will slow down someday.
Boundaries may be part of the work, but they are not magic words that make every demand disappear. We practice specific conversations and make a plan for what you will do with the guilt afterward. That uncomfortable feeling does not get to make every decision for you.
We keep the work tied to real life. A plan that only works on an empty calendar is not a useful plan. We adjust it for busy weeks, setbacks, and the responsibilities you actually have, without turning therapy into another performance review.
When the pressure follows you into every kind of task, generalized anxiety therapy may be a useful place to start.

What you'll actually do
Make a little room in the week.
-
01
Find the pressure points
Identify which demands are fixed and which are rules anxiety keeps adding.
-
02
Test a smaller response
Choose a task where you can practice enough instead of flawless.
-
03
Set one limit
Plan a concrete boundary and rehearse what to say when someone asks for more.
-
04
Protect the pause
Try a short break without turning it into a planning session, then review how it went.
Common questions
Before you book.
- Do I need to quit my job for this to help?
- No. We start with the circumstances you actually have and look for specific, workable changes.
- Is burnout the same as anxiety?
- Not necessarily. They can overlap. We talk through what is driving the pressure rather than trying to label it from a web page.
- What happens between sessions?
- We agree on a small, specific experiment you can try during your normal week and review it together.
- Do you offer online sessions?
- Yes. I offer secure telehealth anywhere in Georgia and in-person therapy in Alpharetta.
